Where do I place weighted lead tape on my paddle?

Here's 5 Surefire Ways Level-Up Your Pickleball Game With Weighted Tape

Top Edge: (12 o'clock position on paddle): Increases power, Increases head weight.

Top Corners: (10 & 2 o'clock position on paddle): Increases power, Higher sweet spot.

Increasing the weight at the top section, commonly referred to as the head, of your pickleball paddle enhances its power potential. A paddle weighted towards the top enables stronger swings, resulting in increased power during shots. However, it's important to note that this adjustment may lead to slower hand speed at the kitchen line due to the added swing weight. Be sure to add to both of the paddle's top corners.

Side Edges: (9 & 3 o'clock position on paddle): Adds stability, Increases sweet spot.

Adding weight to the sides of the pickleball paddle enhances stability, broadens the sweet spot, and minimizes mishits and the accompanying vibrations. Applying weighted lead tape to the paddle's sides enhances the sweet spot further while having a lesser impact on hand speed compared to adding weight to the top of the paddle. Be sure to add to both top corners unless you prefer an asymmetric weighting.

Bottom Corners: (8 & 4 o'clock position on paddle): Increases power, lower sweet spot. Be sure to add to both sides unless you prefer an asymmetric weighting. Be sure to add to both sides of the paddle.

Throat/Handle Edge: (7 & 5 o'clock position on paddle): Adds stability, Increases handle weight.

Placing lead tape near the handle provides benefits such as heightened power, a wider sweet spot, and enhanced stability, with minimal effect on hand speed. Moreover, increasing weight in the handle amplifies hand speed and harmonizes the paddle's weight distribution—particularly beneficial for heavier paddles.

Ultimately, the best location for weighted lead tape is where it complements your playing style and preferences. Experiment with different placements to find the optimal setup for your game. Be sure to add to the same spot on both sides of the paddle.
